Were you aware that there is an estimated $16 billion worth of unclaimed and lost superannuation
throughout Australia?
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has reported a $21 billion increase from last year and is advising Australians to review their accounts and determine if they are entitled to any of the unclaimed funds.
You can check if you have any unclaimed super by using the ATO’s online service called “Find My Super“.
To use this service, you will need to create a myGov account and link it to the ATO. Once you have done this, you can search for any lost or unclaimed super that may belong to you.
The ATO will provide you with a list of super funds that you have accounts with and any lost or unclaimed super that they are holding on your behalf. You can then choose to consolidate your super into one account if you have multiple accounts or claim any unclaimed super that belongs to you.
Alternatively, you can contact your superannuation fund directly to check if you have any lost or unclaimed super with them.
